A man who had devoted his life to comedy is sadly gone way too young.

David A. Arnold has passed away.

While Arnold had been in the comedy business most of his adult life, his big break really only happened a few years ago when he got his first Netflix special.

Only weeks removed from his second special airing, he passed away.

He was only 54 years old.

Struggles to Stardom

Like many comedians before him, his first time at the microphone did not go well.

In fact, Arnold admitted that he bombed horribly the first time he went on stage.

He put comedy on the back burner, went into the Navy, then returned after being inspired by D.L. Hughley to give it another try.

Arnold stated, “And the next thing you know, I was a comedian.

“And that’s when I realized: You gotta bomb.

“You got to take it in the face and you still got to want to do it.”

Arnold had several irons in the fire, including working with some of the biggest names in the industry, but his Netflix special “David A. Arnold: Fat Ballerina” created a rising star.

Kevin Hart produced his second special, “It Ain’t For The Weak.”

Arnold had just started a national tour, playing only three dates, when he passed away.

His family stated, “It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our husband, father, brother and friend, David A. Arnold.

“David passed away peacefully today in his home and doctors have ruled the cause of death due to natural causes.

“Please keep our family in prayer and respect our privacy at this time, as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.”
