Kathryn Kirk, the mother of Charlie Kirk, has pushed back on online speculation about a rift with her son’s widow, Erika Kirk, in a rare interview with Vanity Fair.

Shop NowHer long public silence had fueled online conspiracy theories about the family’s relationship with Erika, including claims of a family rift and of fighting over her son’s will.
“We were 100% behind her,” Kathryn Kirk said. “Erika and I have, through the trauma, grown closer.”
She said her son “would be upset” by the attacks on his wife online.
“We knew Charlie in a way that no one else did,” she said. “We can look at each other’s eyes and we know the depth of our despair.”
Turning Point USA board members told Vanity Fair that Charlie had made clear he wanted his wife to succeed him, and she now serves as the organization’s CEO.
Doug DeGroote said the couple had been working on their will and planned to sign the paperwork.
The interview also includes Erika Kirk’s account of insisting on seeing her husband’s body at the hospital against medical advice.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Sept. 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Tyler Robinson is the defendant in the murder case.
