On Monday, the January 6 Select Committee was at it again.

In addition to Trump, the committee was also trying to implicate Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA).

The committee showed tapes of Loudermilk conducting a tour with his constituents at the Capitol.

The committee was trying to implicate him as hosting a reconnaissance tour for rioters, only that narrative was shot down by the Capitol Chief of Police.

Sorry, Folks

During the hearing, the committee showed videos of the tour taking place.

The so-called “evidence” they were showing, however, had already been debunked.

On the tour, Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger wrote a letter to the committee last week on the subject.

It stated, “There is no evidence that Representative Loudermilk entered the U.S. Capitol with this group on January 5, 2021.

“We train our officers on being alert for people conducting surveillance or reconnaissance, and we do not consider any of the activities we observed as suspicious.”

Loudermilk did not deny giving the tour, only stating that he had left them before they entered the Capitol.

Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) added, “All I can think of is this is a Soviet-style propaganda trial, like a show trial.

“They put this tape together using propaganda, selected words and clauses cut and pasted to smear the people they want to smear and to get the outcome.”

Even so, the Loudermilk tour was front and center in several liberal-oriented publications that continued to paint him as an organizer of the riot.

There seems to be quite a bit of sleight of hand by Democrats here, and nothing more.
