One Moscow resident got blasted into the afterlife by a Ukrainian drone which hit their apartment. Other than that, Muscovites managed to ride out and fend off the “massive” swarm of drones. There’s a whole bunch of debris but no casualties or significant damage. The psychological effect of hitting Russia’s capitol is a whole different story.

Massive drone attack

The drone attack was “massive,” Governor Aleksander Bogomaz relates, but there “were no casualties or damage.” Other than one person killed when “the remnants” of a damaged UAV hit an apartment building.

It started a fire which killed the unidentified individual, Russian officials relate. It’s amazing that more damage wasn’t done.

According to Moscow regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov, “debris from the drone damaged at least two high-rise apartment buildings in the Ramenskoye district in the early hours of Tuesday, setting several flats on fire.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said emergency teams had been sent to a number of locations across the region. The big disruption is to air travel.

The entire area “near the Zhukovo airport” and also the “Domodedovo district” which serves as “the site of one of Moscow’s largest airports” were under heavy drone attack.

More than 30 flights were suspended.” The Kremlin reports “its air defenses shot down more than 70 Ukrainian drones during the night with at least 15 intercepted in and around Moscow.

There’s a whole bunch of debris but no casualties or significant damage.

Intercepted and destroyed

Official sources note that the Ramenskoye district, which lies around 31 miles southeast of the Kremlin, “has a population of about 250,000 people.” It makes them nervous when Ukraine can buzz them with a drone swarm. Someone associated with Russia’s security services leaked the video making social media rounds.

They have “close” connections with “Russia’s SHOT and Baza Telegram channels.” It shows “flames billowing from a multistorey residential building.” Five apartment suites were destroyed.

Along the Russian border with Ukraine, in Bryansk, “59 enemy aircraft-type UAVs have been intercepted and destroyed.” That separate drone attack was also listed as “massive.

Two more Ukrainian drones “were intercepted in the Tula region, south of Moscow.” After two-and-a-half years of Russian aggression, Ukraine is scoring serious points in combat.

Much of the turnaround is attributed to the way Ukraine “fast-tracked the development of its domestic drone industry to enable it to attack Russia’s energy, military and transport infrastructure.

The Ukrainian command isn’t talking to reporters. They were too busy to comment on the attack because “air raid warnings sounded in Kyiv amid another Russian drone assault on the Ukrainian capital.
