Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has publicly declared his loyalty to President Donald Trump after two Democratic senators called for him to leave the Cabinet. Kennedy has not resigned, and nothing in the report suggests he intends to.

“I stand firmly behind President Trump and the historic reforms we are advancing together,” Kennedy wrote in a post on X, Breitbart News reported.

The post came as Sen. Raphael Warnock of Georgia and Sen. Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland, both Democrats, issued calls for Kennedy to step down or be removed, according to Breitbart.

“The time is now,” Alsobrooks wrote on X. “RFK Jr. must resign or be fired. End of discussion.”

Warnock framed his demand around congressional oversight. “Unless RFK Jr. is interested in spending the next two years in front of Congressional committees, he should go ahead and resign now,” he wrote on X.

Breitbart’s report, published Nov. 6, does not say what prompted the two senators to post when they did, and neither post, as quoted, names a specific decision or policy as the reason.

In his own post, Kennedy pointed to what he described as the administration’s record on food. He wrote that “in less than two years, this administration has rewritten federal dietary guidelines to emphasize real food” and “secured commitments from major food companies to remove petroleum-based synthetic dyes and other additives.”

He also cited reviews of chemicals in the food supply and a proposal that would require companies to notify the Food and Drug Administration before introducing ingredients they independently deem safe.

Kennedy said more work remains, naming food-ingredient reform, ultra-processed foods and children’s health as areas still ahead.

The ingredient proposal he referenced dates to August 2026. It would require manufacturers to notify the FDA when they conclude that a substance added to human or animal food is Generally Recognized as Safe, a designation known as GRAS.

Food makers have also moved on dyes. Under the Trump administration, companies such as General Mills, Hershey and Nestlé have announced efforts to eliminate artificial dyes and flavors from their products, and Breitbart reports that Nestlé removed FD&C colors in June 2026. The outlet also notes that Kennedy sent letters to food company chief executives in March 2025.

For now, Kennedy remains HHS secretary.
