Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, criticized Democrats over the outcome at a Breitbart News roundtable hosted by Alex Marlow and Matthew Boyle, Breitbart reported.

“Democrats will burn this country down to keep political power,” Moreno said, arguing that the opposition refused even to take up the measure.

The bill, the Ratepayer Protection Act, is sponsored by Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio.

Breitbart describes it as requiring data centers to produce their own power rather than raise local electricity costs. The House passed it 417-3.

The senators who crossed party lines were Democrats voting to advance it: Maggie Hassan, Amy Klobuchar, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock.

Neither Breitbart nor CBS News names any Republican who voted no.

Democrats dispute Moreno’s characterization. CBS News reported that Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the bill “totally optional,” objecting that it only asks state regulators to consider the standards. “We want it mandatory,” Schumer said.

Moreno also contended the vote went largely uncovered. CBS News, among other outlets, reported it on Sept. 30.
