When we were kids growing up, there were certain shows that we all watched and emulated the next day in school.
One of those shows was “Baretta.”
Sadly, Robert Blake has passed away at the age of 89.
Don’t Do the Crime…
Many of us were familiar with Blake before he even landed “Baretta.”
He had played Mickie in “The Little Rascals,” which was probably on most of our TVs on Saturday or Sunday mornings.
In the mid-1970s, Blake landed “Baretta.”
The show was only on for a few seasons, but I can still hear everyone at school saying, “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.”
As life would have it, Blake would find himself on trial later in life.
He was accused of murdering his wife after she was found in a car outside of a restaurant with a bullet wound to the head.
Blake was acquitted of criminal charges, but he would up being found guilty in a civil case and was ordered to pay $30 million, which ended up bankrupting him.
Blake’s death was announced by his niece.
She stated, “He died at home with family around him peacefully, long-term heart issues.
“He spent the last few years listening to jazz music and playing his guitar and watching classic movies.”
