One of the bigger sports stories this year was about Tom Brady retiring.
The initial announcement was a bit of a surprise to everyone, including Tom Brady.
However, he eventually did come forward to confirm the story.
Former teammate Rob Gronkowski, one of Brady’s best friends, believes this is not the last we have seen of Tom Brady on the football field.
Not Done Yet
Gronk has been known to pull a fast one on the media from time to time, but he seemed pretty sincere.
Brady once stated that he believed he could play well into his forties.
He also has a competitiveness that is simply not going to go away.
When next August rolls around and Brady is used to being in camp, you better believe he will start to get itchy again.
Gronk stated, “The guy can play at any age.
“If he’s 50 years old he can still come back.
“I think he’s going to come back but in a couple of years.
“The guy’s a beast.
“He can play anytime.”
If Gronk is right, it would be one of the greatest comebacks of all time.
Brady has a meticulous daily routine to stay in amazing shape, so he would realistically have to keep that up if he wanted to come out of retirement.
At 44 years old, Brady was already defying father time, so to take time away from the game, then come back, would be a monumental accomplishment at his age.
Gronk himself has yet to decide if he will continue to play or not.
He came out of retirement once to rejoin Brady in Tampa Bay, but now he is a free agent again, so a decision will have to be made soon.
Gronk has expressed interest in playing with Joe Burrow, but that would mean cutting catches from their current TE who has emerged as a real threat.
Gronk, on his future, stated, “You just want to settle down, let everything flush out, and in a couple of weeks make a decision from there.
“See how you’re feeling, what I’m thinking then.
“It’s going to be a little process, but I’m definitely going to take my time with it, no doubt.
“But we’ll see what happens man, anything can be up in the air.
“I’ll figure all that out in the future.
“Let everything play out, then make a move.
“So I’m just relaxing, letting my body heal, have a good time, have some laughs.”
One thing we know about Gronk… laughs are never in short order when he is around.
