“The Wire” was loaded with star power and those that were not yet stars became one after this show went on air.
One of the fan-favorite character actors from the show has sadly passed away.
Al Brown, who played Col. Stan Valchek, is dead.
He was 84 years old.
Sad Day
Brown’s agent announced his death on social media.
He stated, “I am sad to let you know that angels came for Al yesterday morning, Friday, January 13, 2023.
“May his memory be a blessing to his family, his friends, and each of you.
“This page will remain as a testimony to Al’s work and love for his fans.”
Brown’s daughter told TMZ that he had passed due to complications related to Alzheimer’s.
Just in case you don’t remember him, here is one of my favorite scenes from “The Wire” of a running practical joke…
While he was best known for the Wire, he had many big credits on his resume, including, “Rescue Me,” “Forensic Files,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Commander in Chief,” “The Hustler,” ”The Replacements,” “12 Monkeys,” “Lay the Favorite,” “Red Dragon” and “Liberty Heights.”
Brown formally retired from acting last November.
