Several reports have broken this week that paint a fairly ugly picture for the future of Trump’s new social media platform, Truth Social.
Not only is the platform still not operating on Android, but there are now trademark issues as well as major financial problems.
The timing of the news could not be worse, with Trump taking hits and the election right around the corner.
Big Problems for Truth Social
Let’s cover the money aspect of this first.
RightForge is the host of the platform, but apparently Truth Social is not paying its bills.
The organization stated that only three payments were made, and there is now roughly $1.6 million in outstanding bills.
If RightForge pulls the plug, it is game over for Truth Social.
The company said it is planning on pursuing legal means to collect the money owed, but this does not look good for the future.
Additionally, Digital World Acquisition Corp. sounds like it is getting antsy about jumping in as expected due to the current legal problems that Trump is having.
The merger that was supposed to happen has been delayed, which could be one of the reasons that the platform is struggling so badly to expand operations.
There was also an Axios report regarding the trademark being rejected.
Now, this is something that a trademark attorney should have researched before any branding took place.
This is literally branding 101 for a major company, as you need to do significant database searches to ensure the trademark is not already taken or will have any problems getting through the application process.
It could force a rebranding of the platform.
This makes not only Trump look bad, but it is also a scathing rebuke to Devin Nunes, who left Congress to take over this project for Trump.
Not to mention the fact that if Trump Social goes down, it leaves Trump with no communication outlet to supporters and gives Democrats some monster ammo to use against Trump if he decides to run again in 2024.
This is definitely something we are going to keep an eye on in over the next few weeks to see how this all plays out.
