The man who was once tagged as the savior of the New York Post is dead.

Former New York socialite Steven Hoffenberg was found in his Connecticut home during a wellness check.

When authorities arrived, they found a rotting corpse.

Hoffenberg was 77 years old.

Fall from Grace

Hoffenberg was once among the New York elite.

He had a home in Trump Towers, was worth millions, and was even appointed to run the New York Post when it was at its brink.

It did not take long for his life to go south, however.

He was removed from the Post when there was all but a mutiny at the publication.

He also got caught running a Ponzi scheme and was later sentenced to 20 years.

The last straw was his close relationship with Jeffery Epstein, who benefitted from the massive Ponzi scheme.

Since his glory days, Hoffenberg was living in Derby, CT.

He had not been seen in some time, so authorities did a wellness check, only to find a rotting corpse in the home that was completely unrecognizable.

A Derby Police Department spokesman stated, “Every indication is that it is Mr. Hoffenberg.

“There’s nothing to suggest that it isn’t.

“We believe it’s him.

“We’re just waiting for dental records.”

A fitting end for a man that ruined many lives.
