There are crimes… and there are crimes.
At the top of the list of things that literally turn our stomachs are crimes against children.
This one is about as bad as it gets.
Real-life Horror
Kansas City police arrived at an absolutely horrific crime scene earlier this week.
Tasha Haefs allegedly called 911 to report her own crime.
According to the call, Haefs believed the devil was coming for her.
Before hanging up the phone with 9-1-1, she denied having any mental health issues.
As police arrived at the scene, they saw blood on the doorsteps and heard a woman singing inside.
As they knocked on the door, she started to sing louder and louder.
Officers saw what they thought was a severed head inside the residence and a team was able to gain access to the residence from the backdoor.
What they found was horrifying.
Haefs feet and legs were covered with blood, and the decapitated body of her six-year-old boy was lying on the floor.
They also found a decapitated dog in the basement, along with two knives.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker stated, “The community now knows some of the terrible details of the death of this 6-year-old child.
“It takes our breath away.”
He continued, “It’s difficult to imagine the grief for this boy’s family. For the child’s classmates. His friends. Neighbors. The first responders who went to this crime scene.”
Haefs is being charged with first-degree murder.
Baker added, “This child’s death is a call for something more.
“Our community must heed the call.
“Law enforcement, prosecutors, public health officials, social service providers, all of our many partners must work together to address the violence.
“Strong collaborations are needed to lean into this difficult challenge, and better protect our community’s most vulnerable population, our kids.”
