Georgia Town Required EVERYONE To Own A Gun, Then The Unexpected Happened

Now that I have reached the “not as young as I once was” phase of my life, I often look back to my upbringing and realize that I was pretty fortunate that I grew up where I grew up. There are a lot of other folks that should realize the same thing.

Let me give you an example, I grew up in a town in Michigan that had a very strong culture of deer hunting in the fall and early winter.

The first two days of deer season were school holidays. It seemed that everyone owned a rifle of some kind. We had a lot of gun owners in our quaint little town.

I’ll tell you what the heck we didn’t have, a whole lot of crime to report. It seemed that the most the police ever got called out for was to assist with medical emergencies at people’s homes, or when someone slipped and broke their ankle in a grocery store.

Despite what liberals might want to tell you, the ownership of firearms makes a town safer.

In 1982, the city of Kennesaw, Georgia (been there once, beautiful little city) passed an ordinance requiring every head of the house to own at least one working firearm.

So basically, the residents of this little 5,000-person city were told that every home had to have one person with a gun of some kind.

Rifle, pistol, they didn’t care as long as it was working and there was someone qualified to operate it. This would be the part where if a liberal was telling the story they would go on a ten-minute rant about how horrible this is. But since it’s me here, I’ll do the logical thing and tell you what happened.

Crime went down. Yes, friends, crime went down. From the statistics that I was able to find in my research, burglaries went down almost ninety percent in the first year.

There were only five…FIVE burglaries in the whole year. I’m guessing those five were when folks were on vacation or something.

The point is, owning a firearm is no different than someone owning a table saw or an electric screwdriver. At the end of the day, it is a tool. People need to know how to properly use those tools.

People need to be taught how to use tools. If it wasn’t for shop class in school, half of us wouldn’t know how to use a table saw. It’s why we need more laws like this one, and why we need more people learning how to handle firearms.
