It’s official… Mehmet Oz, a.k.a. Dr. Oz, is the Republican nominee for the Senate in the state of Pennsylvania.

This was one of the closest primary races in the entire country, with only hundreds of votes separating the two candidates.

With the recount almost completed, Dave McCormick has concluded he trails by too much, and he has conceded the race to Oz.

Big Win for Trump, But…

This is a nice feather in the cap of Donald Trump, but this is far from over.

There are still a lot of questions regarding Oz and how much support he will get in the general election.

Over the course of his career, Oz has made some very public statements that were all backing Democrat platform issues, such as pro-choice and pro-gun control.

All of this will be used against him in the general election.

Oz was booed during a Trump rally in PA earlier this year.

When they were doing man-on-the-street interviews, it was pretty clear that not everyone is buying into Oz’s sudden change of heart.

For him to win, he will need McCormick’s supporters to back him.

To his credit, McCormick was all class in his concession speech trying to make that happen.

He stated, “It’s now clear to me with the recount largely complete, that we have a nominee.

“And today I called Mehmet Oz to congratulate him on his victory.

“And I told him what I always said to you, that I will do my part to try to unite Republicans and Pennsylvanians behind his candidacy, behind his nomination for the Senate.

“It is so important for Pennsylvania, so important that we beat John Fetterman.”

This will more than likely be one of the two seats, the other being in Georgia, which will determine if the GOP can take back the Senate.

Oddly enough, the candidates in both races were controversial Trump-backed candidates, so this will weigh heavily on Trump’s future as a leader of the GOP.
