One of the most popular actresses-singers of the 1970s and 1980s has passed away.

Olive Newton-John, whose career blew up in 1978 after “Grease,” has died.

She was 73 years old.

A Generational Icon

Newton-John finally succumbed to her battle with cancer.

After almost two decades in remission, the cancer returned in 2013.

In 2018, the situation became direr, as the cancer had metathesized in her spine.

Newton-John was very open about her death at that point, knowing it would come sooner rather than later.

Even so, she hung on for four more years, passing on Monday surrounded by her loved ones.

Her singing career started in the mid-60s, but it was not until she released a hit in 1973 that she started to pop up on the radar.

Soon after, the awards started coming, which led to her monster break, starring with John Travolta in “Grease.”

She instantly became America’s sweetheart and her career went ballistic after that.

Olivia had numerous number one hits as well as a few more starring roles in both movie and TV productions.

I don’t think anyone growing up during that era will ever forget that smile.
