CNN+ is about to come to a brutal end less than a month after it launched.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery had pulled all external marketing.
Today, news broke that Warner Bros. has officially decided to shut down the new streaming platform.
Major Disappointment
CNN lured Chris Wallace away from Fox News as the primary draw for CNN+.
At the time of the announcement, Wallace was very excited to be the featured star on the new platform.
However, that excitement quickly wore thin as sales were horrific (about 10 percent of what was expected).
CNN paid Wallace a small ransom to move over to the streaming platform, but now their “star” is left without an outlet.
Wallace now has nine days left of airtime, as the shutdown is expected to take place on April 30.
Warner Bros. Discovery is adamant that it will be a player in the streaming market, but the real question now is what CNN is going to do with Chris Wallace.
With all that money on the table, he will more than likely get a prime-time show.
He could take over the Chris Cuomo time slot to gain back viewers in the ratings.
While the network has been struggling for years, CNN has been bleeding viewers in the last two years.
The lack of interest in the streaming platform just goes to show how dire the situation is for CNN as a news organization.
