Stolen valor is something that is treated very seriously in this country.
During the commencement speech for the U.S. Naval Academy, Joe Biden made comments that many are calling just that.
Regardless, this is something he never should have claimed.
No, You Were Not
I don’t know if Joe got his dates mixed up or he was just flat out lying about it all, but he made a statement during the commencement speech that cannot possibly be true.
Biden claims he was appointed to the Naval Academy in 1965…
Joe Biden falsely claimed he “was appointed to the [Naval] Academy in 1965” while speaking to Naval Academy graduates today.

Biden graduated from Delaware University that year, so the appointment at that time is impossible.
Stolen valor is when one tries to represent themselves a member of the military under false pretense.
Calling this a case of stolen valor could be a loose consideration of that since these graduates are mandated to serve after graduating from the Academy.
We should also note that Biden’s recent autobiography does not mention this story.
The White House and Naval Academy have not answered any inquiries regarding Biden’s claim as of this writing.
