I really don’t understand the strategy by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.

Bragg has called three witnesses so far, and they all seem to have helped Trump’s case more than the prosecutions.

One of them was the attorney for Stormy Daniels, Keith Davidson, who all but destroyed Bragg’s case when he was on the stand.

It’s Not Hush Money

Davidson was called to the stand after David Pecker, who, at the time of his interaction with Trump, was the CEO of American Media.

American Media had published a story about Trump in order to kill the story, which Pecker explained was not something done specifically for Trump.

He went on to explain that his company did this all the time to gain leverage against stars.

Then came Davidson, who was an attorney who specialized in shaking down celebrities legally, becoming very familiar with the aspects of law on this subject.

Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass asked Davidson, “Would you use the phrase hush money to describe the money that was paid to your client by Donald Trump?”

Now, the key to being a good attorney is never asking a question to which you do not know the answer.

Steinglass never could have expected Davidson’s reply, which was,  “I would never use that word.”

He then insisted this was a payment that was part of a “civil settlement.”

Now, legal experts in the media are already trying to downplay this, saying there is really no legal difference in that terminology.

How attorneys interpret that and how members of the jury interpret that, however, are two different worlds.

That may have created just enough doubt in the jury’s mind to let Trump off the hook.
