One of Biden’s top advisers has resigned.
Gina McCarthy, who denied rumors of her departure only five months ago, has left the Biden administration.
McCarthy was serving as Biden’s National Climate Adviser.
Gone
Rumors have been flying around about McCarthy since the beginning of the year.
In April, she addressed them, saying that was not the case…
Reports that I have resigned from my position as President Biden's National Climate Advisor are simply inaccurate. We’ve made great progress these past 14 months, but we have much more work to do — and I remain excited about the opportunities ahead.

It now appears she held off merely to make the people who broke the story look bad.
After Biden received her resignation, he stated, “Under Gina McCarthy and Ali Zaidi’s leadership, my administration has taken the most aggressive action ever, from historic legislation to bold executive actions, to confront the climate crisis head-on.
“The Inflation Reduction Act is the biggest step forward on clean energy and climate in history, and it paves the way for additional steps we will take to meet our clean energy and climate goals.”
Like many other members of the Biden administration, McCarthy also served under Obama.
She served as the EPA head during the Obama administration.
McCarthy’s last day in office will be September 16.
Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi will take over McCarthy’s office upon her departure.
