Rep. Jason Crow, a Colorado Democrat, said Congress has received no briefing on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s investigation into leaks about U.S. weapons stockpiles, and that lawmakers learned of the probe through news reports.

Shop NowCrow made the comments on CBS News’ “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan” on Sunday.
He is a senior member of both the House Armed Services Committee and the House Intelligence Committee.
The leaks concerned how quickly advanced U.S. munitions were depleted during the Iran war, disclosures that raised questions about military readiness.
Senior military officials have undergone polygraph testing in connection with the inquiry, and none failed, according to the report.
“They don’t want people to know,” Crow said.
He continued, “This is exactly the point. They don’t want people to know what’s actually happening.”
He characterized the investigation as “part of his effort to create fear and to clamp down on information coming out of the Pentagon,” adding that “the problem is the broader context that Pete Hegseth has created here.”
Crow cited the removal of more than 80 generals and admirals, roughly the top 10% of military leadership, and said promotions for women have fallen to a 25-year low.
The Pentagon did not respond in the segment.
