Eleven of the injured suffered gunshot wounds. CBS did not say how many of the children were among those shot.

Police said Sunday that six victims remained hospitalized, one in critical condition, and five had been discharged.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a fight broke out before the shooting, which followed a football game in a crowded area, according to police. No arrests have been made.

CBS reported no suspect description, and police say they are working to identify “those responsible.” A dedicated tip line has been set up for information, photos and video.

“We know there are people who saw something, heard something or may have video that could help us piece together exactly what happened,” Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said.

The university said the shooting happened near its campus and that the campus remained safe.

FAMU President Marva Johnson condemned what she called a “senseless and despicable shooting.” FAMU head coach Quinn Gray wrote on Facebook that “no child should ever be caught in gunfire.”
