Unless I am incredibly mistaken, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) openly took a bribe to sway a vote.
Pelosi recently expressed “serious concerns” about a media merger.
This was conveniently timed with more than $500,000 in donations from another media mogul.
The ‘Bribe’
Media mogul Byron Allen has been pouring money into Democrat campaigns, including Nancy Pelosi.
Estimates are that he has ponied up more than $500,000 in what appears to be a blatant effort to sway a vote… what most of us would consider a bribe.
Oddly enough, on October 6, Pelosi penned a letter to FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel expressing “serious concerns” about an agreement by Tegna.
Tegna is hoping to sell to hedge fund Standard General for $8.6 billion.
In the last quarter, Nelson donated $275,000 to Pelosi’s campaign.
He is also against the Tegna deal going through.
Allen is reportedly hoping to get his hooks in Tegna to expand his empire, which includes The Weather Channel.
Craig Holman, the Capitol Hill lobbyist for advocacy group Public Citizen, who has worked with Pelosi before, stated, “If she is helping out a major donor it doesn’t look good, quite frankly.
“When it comes to campaign finance, this is often how it works. A donor gives money with the expectation of some return.
“It is legal unless there is an actual agreement between the parties. Then it is a bribe.
“But when there is no obvious agreement, it does not run afoul of the law.”
Does he expect Pelosi to have a signed contract with Allen?
He gives money, then she pans a deal that would hurt him and his empire.
If that is not a bribe, I do not know what qualifies.
