What is wrong with people these days that rejection leads them to end someone’s life?
Kayla Noonan, 22, is dead, apparently at the hands of someone she was previously involved with.
Her friend, known as C.R., was also wounded in the attack.
The alleged shooter, Mika Dixon, 27, turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
Campus Rocked
According to local reports, Dixon entered the apartment through a window and opened fire.
C.R. and Noonan were in the apartment at the time, and he immediately opened fire, hitting them both.
Dixon must have thought he had killed them both, so he then took his own life with the weapon.
Burlington Police Department Acting Chief Jon Murad stated, “He shot and killed Ms. Noonan.
“He shot and wounded C.R., and then he shot and killed himself.”
The apartment was near the University of Vermont Campus, where Noonan had previously attended classes.
The shooting was called in by C.R., who authorities thought was giving a dying declaration, but C.R.’s status has been upgraded to stable but critical condition at the hospital.
Dixon has a relationship that went back years with Noonan, but it was unclear exactly what that relationship was then or now.
Additionally, C.R. reportedly knew Dixon, but her involvement with him is also unknown at this time.
The incident remains under investigation and the motive remains unclear at this time.
