In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, reported by Just the News, the rocker said his relationship with Trump has strained friendships, cost him corporate deals and ended his invitations to late-night talk shows. He did not criticize Trump, and he did not express regret about supporting him.

“My relationship with Trump, yeah, that canceled all the, uh, any corporate deals coming my way,” he said. “I don’t really get invited to be part of, you know, things like the NFL or things like that.”

He said the change extended to programs he had been close to for years, naming “all the late-night talk shows” and “my friend Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.” In his words, “I don’t really get invited on there anymore.”

Kid Rock left the door open to that changing, but said it does not trouble him either way.

“But who’s to say that won’t change … and I honestly, I don’t care,” he said. “I put my country before pretty much everything except my family and God. So, yeah. There have been things like that, but that’s no sweat off my back.”

The musician said he once worried about the professional fallout of speaking out on politics, and that he went ahead knowing what it would cost.

“Years ago, when I went on this path to be more vocal and outspoken, I knew that stuff was going to go away. But man, let me tell you what freedom feels like,” he said.

He described the ability to speak his mind “anywhere, anytime” and to exercise “the freedom of speech that so many brave souls died for” as “the biggest, most awesome feeling of freedom that one could ever imagine.”

The comments came just days after the release of his latest album, “Halfway 2 Jesus,” which he has described as a blend of Christian themes with high-energy rock. Earlier this year, he headlined the Turning Point USA Super Bowl “All-American Halftime Show.”

Kid Rock did not name any specific company or sponsor that had dropped him, and Just the News did not report a response from the NFL or from the late-night programs he mentioned. The account of what he lost is his own.
