Sadly, it now appears that former President Jimmy Carter is close to passing.
His grandson recently spoke at an event, revealing that the end is near.
Carter has been living in hospice care for more than a year, recently suffering through the loss of his beloved Rosalynn.
Time to Go
Carter has had many health problems over the last decade, including a cancer diagnosis and several horrible falls.
Due to his health issues, Carter was put in hospice in February 2023, but he has somehow managed to continue on.
When Rosalynn died in November 2023, Carter did make it to her funeral, but everyone assumed that he was holding on so as not to leave her behind, as he openly stated that he feared.
Now, however, it seems as though his time is coming to an end, with grandson Jason stating, “My grandfather is doing OK. He has been in hospice, as you know, for almost a year and a half now.
“He really is, I think, coming to the end that, as I’ve said before, there’s a part of this faith journey that is so important to him, and there’s a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end, and I think he has been there in that space.”
Carter long ago made peace with his mortality, stating, “I assumed, naturally, that I was going to die very quickly.
“I obviously prayed about it. I didn’t ask God to let me live, but I asked God to give me a proper attitude toward death. And I found that I was absolutely and completely at ease with death.
“It didn’t really matter to me whether I died or lived.
“Except I was going to miss my family, and miss the work at the Carter Center and miss teaching your Sunday school service sometimes and so forth. All those delightful things.”
Carter will always be known as one of the worst presidents this country has ever had, but he will also be known for a tremendous legacy after leaving office, especially in terms of his charitable endeavors.
We hope you remain comfortable in your remaining days, Mr. Carter, but I am sure you are looking forward to being reunited with Rosalynn again.
