California has been throwing money at their homelessness problem for years and it’s only become worse. People have been living in tents along the sidewalk from Calexico to San Francisco. On Thursday, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom took what looks like action. He “issued an executive order” suggesting “the removal of homeless encampments in his state.”
California orders local agencies
With all the rats running around homeless camps, California is literally plagued. An outbreak of that hit the skid row area of Los Angeles a few years ago. since then, not a whole lot has been done about the underlying problems.
Suddenly, with San Francisco-raised Kamala Harris in the political spotlight, there’s a sense of urgency to clean up the horrid mess.
Newsom’s order has all sorts of guidelines on “how to remove the thousands of tents and makeshift shelters” spanning California.

Now that he has endorsed @KamalaHarris for President, he wants her home state to be cleaned up…
That’s why he’s doing this. Political theater! https://t.co/B1kEYLd41y

It also makes it crystal clear that “the decision to remove the encampments” from freeways, shopping center parking lots and city parks is “in the hands of local authorities.” The cities and towns get to pay for it, too. He can’t justify another dime of state money with his own dismal record.
Newsom came to the conclusion that an executive order was a good idea for his career after SCOTUS ruled that cities are actually allowed “to enforce bans on sleeping outside in public spaces.”
While that goes against everything California Democrats believe in, it opened the door to a big cleaning spree.

Make Kamala look good
As soon as Joe Biden made the announcement he’s not going to continue campaigning, Republicans turned their attention to Kamala Harris. Specifically, all the human crap on the streets and sidewalks of her beloved San Francisco.
When homeless, fentanyl crazed zombies shuffle through what used to be the business district, it doesn’t look good for the former California prosecutor and senator. She was the model for all those who came after her.
Year after year, Newsom spent billions on the problem without any improvement.

Earlier this year, he squeezed California for a ballot measure “to allow the state to borrow nearly $6.4 billion to build 4,350 housing units.” The fentanyl zombies prefer their tents.
Newsom wants the mess cleaned up now, since he can get away with ordering the cities to do it, without it actually being an order. “We must act with urgency to address dangerous encampments,” he insists.
He can’t actually “order local authorities to act, his administration can apply pressure by withholding money for counties and cities.” California needs every excuse to hold onto cash they can find. They have all those reparations checks to cut.
