Paul Pelosi, the 86-year-old husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been prohibited from driving for six months after pleading no contest Tuesday to a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge, ABC7 San Francisco reports. The driving ban applies to Paul Pelosi, not to the former speaker.

The charge stems from a July 3 collision in Yountville, in California’s wine country, in which he struck a legally parked car, briefly stopped and then allegedly drove away, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The car was unoccupied, no injuries were reported, and officials have said alcohol was not involved.

Pelosi also pleaded no contest to an infraction for making an unlawful turn.

He was placed on one year of summary probation, which does not involve reporting to a probation officer, and ordered to complete a 10-day work program. He paid about $11,200 in restitution to the car’s owner, along with court fines and fees.

A Pelosi family spokesperson told KRON-TV in July that he had personally apologized to the owner and would take responsibility for the damage.

In 2022, Pelosi pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence in Napa County and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation.
