Another small-market Mexican journalist has been killed.
Fredid Román, who ran the program called “The Reality of Guerrero,” was shot and killed while he was sitting in his parked car.
The killing appears to be a hit, more than likely by the cartel.
Another Hit
Journalists are dropping like flies in Mexico right now, which is not exactly a surprise.
Because of the cartel, it has long been considered one of the most dangerous places for journalists to work.
It is not so much reporters for major publications as it is the independent journalists like Román.
Last week, another independent journalist, Juan Arjón López, was found beaten to death.
That body was found near a clandestine grave site where 11 other bodies were recently discovered.
The Committee to Protect Journalists’ Mexican representative, Jan-Albert Hootsen, expressed grave concern that the lack of prosecution is energizing these killings.
Hootsen stated, “Although some arrests have been made in earlier cases of press killings this year, an ongoing climate of impunity continues to fuel these attacks.”
Report on corrupt politicians and the cartel, you die, it is as simple as that in Mexico.
And to think, the reporters in this country get upset when Trump or DeSantis tells them they are fake news!
