“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” finished first at the North American box office for a sixth consecutive weekend, taking an estimated $18 million from Friday through Sunday and a projected $23.3 million across the four-day Labor Day holiday.

The run makes it only the second film this decade to hold the top spot for six straight weekends, after “Avatar: The Way of Water” in 2022.

The Sony release, the thirty-eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, opened on July 31 and has now taken about $2.4 billion worldwide.

Its hold has anchored an unusually strong summer for theaters: domestic grosses reached roughly $4.6 billion through August 31, up 26.1 percent on the same stretch of 2025.

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” was the season’s other major driver.

The result also extends a pattern for the franchise, whose entries have repeatedly ranked among the decade’s biggest earners, including “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.

ABC News, which reported the weekend figures, notes that Marvel is owned by The Walt Disney Company, ABC News’ parent company.

Studio estimates released on Sundays are provisional and are typically revised when final weekend numbers are confirmed early in the week.
