The mother of Sheridan Gorman, the 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago student killed in March, criticized Democratic lawmakers Thursday at a Washington gathering honoring victims of violent crime. Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel, border czar Tom Homan and drug czar Sara Carter attended.
Jose Medina, a Venezuelan national who entered the U.S. illegally and was previously released after a shoplifting arrest in Chicago, has been charged with Sheridan’s murder.
Jessica Anne Gorman recalled testifying at a recent House hearing on sanctuary policies and said she heard laughter from lawmakers as she spoke.
She singled out Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., who had remarked that it was the fourth such hearing and that there were “many other things we could be doing.”
“They give us five minutes to tell our daughter’s story,” Gorman said. “She listened to four before mine. She didn’t want to listen to another.”
She also accused Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., of napping during the proceedings.
Stephen Federico, whose daughter Logan was killed while visiting friends at the University of South Carolina, said the man accused in her death was “a home-grown American career criminal that we arrested 39 damn times.”
Fox News Digital said it had reached out to Jayapal’s office for comment.
