Are kids out of control these days in schools?
In far too many cases, that answer is yes.
Having said that, teachers working with special needs kids need to expect odd behavior and have the patience of angels.
If they cannot do that, they need to find another profession.
That is what makes this video so disturbing.
Hands Off
Right from the outset, former Wolters Elementary School Principal Brian Vollhardt looks like he is ready for confrontation.
You can see the boy walk up to him and say something, but Vollhardt seems to get confrontational rather than calmly talking the student down.
Then, out of nowhere, he shoves the child as though he were a 200-pound adult…
School District Superintendent Bob Nelson called the man’s actions “repugnant” and “absolutely not tolerated at any level within Fresno Unified.”
As it turns out, the incident was reported to local police when it happened in June, but the report was buried for some reason.
The local chief was not made aware of the report until just a few days ago and he acted on it immediately.
Vollhardt has been charged with a misdemeanor charge of willful cruelty to a minor.
Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama stated, “I can tell you as a police chief in this community, I have a real problem as to the way that this child was treated.
“As a parent of a 9-year-old kid, which is a very similar age to the victim in this case and who also suffers from anxiety and doesn’t always handle situations in the best way, it is troubling as to how somebody who is supposed to protect this child and provide support, treated them.”
I know there are a lot of great teachers out there that truly care.
I have friends who go the extra mile for their kids and are amazing teachers, but we see scenes like this play out too often.
This is especially of interest now with how influential we are seeing teachers’ unions are in Biden policy as well as the agenda far too many liberal teachers are pushing on kids.
Not all teachers are bad, obviously, but we need to root out the bad apples and remove them from the system.
