If it is dirty but legal, does it make it wrong to do it?
That is the question you are going to have to answer here.
What Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) did, technically, is not against the rules.
However, most would say that it was ethically wrong.
Pay the Family
Clyburn is partaking in something most of DC does these days… getting their family a piece of the pie.
In Clyburn’s case, he got them campaign money as well as getting his daughter a job in DC.
Magnolia Blossom LLC, which is a company associated with his daughter, Jennifer Clyburn Reed, got a healthy paycheck from Clyburn’s campaign for $57,500.
Walter AC Reed, her husband, got one for $94,000, with was tagged as “campaign administrative fees.”
Joe Biden also added Jennifer to his team, appointing her to the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission in 2021.
Is she qualified for that role? You tell me.
Her prior experience was as a schoolteacher, yet now she will be figuring out how to alleviate economic hardships along the southeastern United States.
This is legal corruption, nothing more, and it must be stopped.
