Police in Palatine, Illinois, are searching for a 24-year-old woman who has been missing for more than a week, Fox News Digital reports.
The Palatine Police Department says Alyssa Smith has been missing since Sept. 30. Her mother, Rebecca Smith, told Fox News Digital that Alyssa went on a trip to Chicago with her boyfriend and that he returned home without her. The boyfriend has not been accused of any crime or wrongdoing, Fox reported.
He reshared a missing-person poster on social media with a message urging her to come home, adding, “No one is mad at you.”
Police said detectives are actively investigating and following up on possible sightings. Reports indicate Smith may have been seen on Saturday, Oct. 3, in the Grant Park area and near Cicero Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Investigators are working to verify those sightings.
Smith is described as a white woman, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 135 to 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, several piercings and numerous tattoos, including a Pennywise clown on her left shoulder.
She was believed to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, light khaki pants or sweatpants and white Adidas sneakers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact local law enforcement or call 911.
