Democrats in Congress say they will investigate business deals involving President Donald Trump’s family if they win control of the House or Senate in November, Reuters reported.

No formal target list exists yet. Rep. Jamie Raskin and Sen. Richard Blumenthal both cautioned that one has not been drawn up, according to Reuters.

Areas lawmakers named include Donald Trump Jr.’s venture firm 1789 Capital and a $620 million Pentagon loan to rare-earth startup Vulcan Elements; Jared Kushner’s firm Affinity Partners and his dealings with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates while serving as a presidential envoy; corporate donations to Trump’s ballroom; and crypto firms with Trump ties.

“We’re going to hold the crooks accountable, beginning on day one,” House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said.

Those named reject the premise. White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales said Democrats have “no agenda to improve the lives of the American people.”

1789 Capital said it welcomes legitimate congressional oversight but opposes “political gamesmanship.” Vulcan Elements said it did not ask investors to help secure the loan. Kushner’s lawyer, Chad Mizelle, called the allegations false.

Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer said Democrats risk a voter backlash by fixating on Trump.
