Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry resigned Friday from her job as a press adviser at the State Department, ABC News has learned. Her exit followed an incident at a professional basketball game earlier in the week.

McHenry was captured on camera Wednesday appearing to throw a drink on someone during a game between the Washington Wizards and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Video obtained by TMZ appears to show her being escorted out of the stands at Capital One Arena afterward.

McHenry had been appointed to the State Department role only last month.

A department official declined to comment on her departure, calling it an internal personnel matter.

ABC News said it was not immediately able to reach McHenry for comment.

The report describes her departure as a resignation, not a firing, and includes no statement from President Trump or the White House about her exit.

This is not the first time McHenry’s conduct has drawn public scrutiny.

In 2015, while working at ESPN, she was suspended by the network for one week after a video showing her berating a clerk at a towing company went viral.

Page Six was first to report her departure, and ABC News confirmed it with its own reporting.
